Resolution 2258 (Syria) S/RES/2258

On 22 December 2015 the UN Security Council passed Resolution 2258 on the situation in Syria. Resolution 2258 demands that all parties comply with their obligations under International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and renews for 12 months the decisions of Resolution 2165, authorizing cross-border humanitarian access to UN agencies and establishing a monitoring mechanism of the process. The resolution also reaffirmed “the primary responsibility of the Syrian authorities to protect the population in Syria.”
